Hurricane Irene and Road Conditions

Every day that goes by, the forecast looks more and more threatening, and at this point, there is no doubt that we are in for major issues here in the tri-state area.  For our chauffeur service, this means cancelled flights, flooded roads, and communication problems.  For our clients, this means long stays in airports, the inability to take precautions at their homes, and endless aggravation.

For people planning on travelling this weekend, the best advice would be to closely monitor all developments with the storm and also take a look at what options the airlines are offering.  Airports such as JFK International Airport and LaGuardia airport are situated on the coast and will be subject to flooding, power outages, and high winds.  Most airlines understand the predicament they face this weekend, and have already laid out plans to help their clients arrange a back up plan
For those of us not flying, flooding and power outages will severely impact travel on the roads, and driving should probably be avoided on Sunday.  Not only will there be many inches of rain, but storm surge will affect many coastal communities in Connecticut, Westchester County, and Long Island.
